Soybean meal is cottonseed meal, peanut meal, rapeseed meal and other 12 kinds of animal and vegetable oil meal feed products with the largest output and the most widely used one. As a high protein, soybean meal is the main raw material for making livestock and poultry feed. It can also be used to make pastry foods, health foods, cosmetics and antibiotic materials.

About 85% of soybean meal is used for poultry and pig breeding, and a variety of amino acids contained in soybean meal are suitable for nutritional needs of poultry and pigs. Experiments have shown that without the addition of animal protein, the amino acids contained in soybean meal alone are sufficient to balance the nutrition of poultry and pigs, thereby promoting the nutritional absorption of livestock. Soybean meal is used to the maximum in poultry and pig breeding. Cottonseed meal and peanut meal are only considered for use when their unit protein cost is much lower than soybean meal. In fact, soybean meal has become a benchmark for comparison of other protein sources.

During the feeding process of dairy cows, the delicious and easily digestible soybean meal can increase milk production. Soybean meal is also one of the most important oilseed meals in beef cattle. Soy meal is also used to make pet food. Simple mixed foods of corn and soybean meal have the same value as foods made with high animal protein. In recent years, soybean meal has also been widely used in aquaculture. A variety of amino acids contained in soybean meal can fully meet the special needs of fish for amino acids.
