How to prevent feed waste during laying hen feeding? In the entire cost of raising chickens, feed costs account for about 70%. Specific measures can be taken as follows:

(1) Breeding

① Breeding high-yield species. Under the same feeding and management conditions, modern high-quality high-yielding layer hens, such as Roman, Isa, and Dika, have high egg production and relatively low feed consumption, and their feed-to-egg ratio is about 2.0 to 2.5:1. It can be seen that updating varieties can increase feed remuneration and relatively reduce feed consumption.

② Rearing and identifying chicks in order to eliminate male chicks in time. The ratio of male to female should be appropriate, and do not raise too many roosters. After the breeding season, the roosters are eliminated immediately.

③The trough structure should be reasonable. The side of the long trough and the bottom of the round bucket should not be too shallow, and there must be a back eave. Add material less frequently, and the depth should not exceed 1/3 of the depth of the trough.

④ Eliminate sick, weak, handicapped and few-growing chickens in time.

⑤ Deworming regularly to prevent the laying hens from losing weight due to the influence of internal and external parasites, affecting egg production and wasting feed.

⑥Second beak breaking. The first time was performed around 10 days of age, and the second time was performed around 12 weeks of age. By cutting the beak, on the one hand, the occurrence of pecking can be prevented, and on the other hand, feed can be effectively saved.

⑦ Change free-range breeding to cage breeding. Due to the low activity of caged laying hens, less maintenance needs.

⑧ Recycle contaminated materials that cannot be fed to chickens. Recycle contaminated materials from chicken manure, chicken house aisles, sinks, and shipments for feeding pigs or other livestock.

⑨ Pay attention to the preservation of feed, and do a good job of preventing rodents, moisture and mildew.

(2) Chicken feed

It can be seen from the above that starting from the breeding aspect, there are many details that can save feed. This is also a necessary breeding skill for chicken farmers. In addition to saving feed from daily needs, another most important aspect is the recommendation to use full price chicken feed. In the past, when farmers raised chickens, they often fed the chickens with a single feed. The result was more feed, less eggs, and low feed returns. The full price compound feed is formulated according to science, which can meet the needs of various nutrients for laying hens, so the feed pays high.

① Do laying hens eat powder feed or pellet feed?

Laying chicken powder refers to a powder feed obtained by grinding all the feed in the ration into powder, and then adding vitamins and trace element additives. Its advantages are complete nutrition, chickens are not easy to picky eaters, but poor palatability, and easy to fly and lose, causing waste. Therefore, the powder used for feeding laying hens should not be ground too fine.

The pellet feed for laying hens is made into pellets with a diameter of 2.5 to 5.0 mm using a pellet machine. Its advantages are complete nutrition, good palatability, chickens cannot be picky eaters, can avoid partial eclipse, prevent waste, facilitate mechanized feeding, and save labor. However, the processing cost of chicken pellet feed is relatively high, and the chickens consume a large amount of feed. It is easy to cause excessive fat in the laying hens and affect egg production. Therefore, laying hens are generally not suitable to feed pellets. However, in the summer high temperature season, when the layer hens lose their appetite, pellet feed can be used to increase the chicken's feed intake.

At present, it is common for laying hens to be fed powder feed. There are usually two ways of feeding powder for laying hens: one is to feed dry powder with buckets, troughs or feeders, so that the chickens can eat freely, so that the chickens can eat the feed at any time. The nutrient gap is not big and labor is saved; the other is to feed the wet mix, that is, feed the chickens with water and mix the feed several times a day. Its advantage is that the palatability is good, the laying hens like to eat, the feed intake is large, but weak Chickens often do not eat enough nutrients, causing the gap between strengths and weaknesses to widen, increasing the number of culled chickens. Therefore, it is better to feed layers with dry powder and free drinking water at present.

②How to make chicken powder feed and pellet feed for layers?

Usually we will add crumble under the cooler.If we are to make small pellet,directly making it from the pellet mill will reduce the capacity of the whole plant and cost more energy,we can first make bigger pellet and then send it to crumble to make it smaller.
