Contact Us1. Direct waste
① Start feeding: order the chicks to start feeding on the 13th, usually by putting newspaper or plastic sheet on the litter, and sprinkling the feed so that the chicks can eat freely. In the process of feeding, the chicks are likely to scrape the feed on the ground or mix the feces together and cause waste. Some newspapers are stepped on and leaked onto the litter, causing waste.
② Ground raising: Because the feed hopper is placed too low, the feed is pulled out of the tray during the chicken eating, which causes waste.
③ Too much chicken feed in a cage is the main cause of feed waste. Experimental statistics show that when the feed is added to 2/3 of the feed, the feed is wasted 12%, when the feed is added to 1/2, the feed is wasted 5%, and when the feed is added to the trough 1/3, the feed is wasted about 2%.
④ The water tank is easily deformed and broken after being used for a long time, causing water to leak into the feed tank and cause waste.
⑤ The breeding of young chickens is not restricted, which not only wastes feed but also overweight chickens, which will affect the egg production rate in the future.
⑥ Feeding towers are used in large-scale mechanized chicken farms, which may cause mildew and rotten feed due to the lack of rain on the top cover.
⑦ Rodent and bird damage in the feed storehouse of the chicken farm not only eats a large amount of feed, but also causes the spread of disease.
⑧ Disability, low yield, chronic wasting diseases, parasites, and redundant roosters in the flock are all causes of feed waste.
⑨ Rain, damp heat, and dripping during long-distance transportation and loading of chicken feed can cause waste.
2. Indirect waste
① The imbalance of nutrients, especially amino acids, caused by unreasonable feed formulas, leads to the loss of relatively surplus nutrients, and some feeds are wasted because the ratio of certain feeds exceeds the nutritional standards.
② Lack of grit reduces the digestibility of chickens.
③ The chicken corn maize feed hammer mill crusher malfunctions or the screen is worn, resulting in insufficient feed crushing size and uniformity, which reduces the utilization rate of feed.
④ Improper storage of feed or too long time will reduce the effectiveness of some vitamins A, E, and B2 or be destroyed, and the antibiotics and vitamins in the feed will antagonize and lead to the lack of certain vitamins.
⑤ Ambient temperature is too cold or too hot: The most suitable temperature for the chickens' living environment is 20℃. At this time, the feed returns are the highest, and the egg production and weight gain are the best. If it is higher than 25℃, the chickens’ drinking water will increase and their appetite will decrease. In cold weather, the chicken body itself consumes part of the heat energy due to heat preservation.
⑥ Feed adulteration: When buying feed on the market, pay attention to the quality. Many merchants adulterate the feed under the drive of profit, and the nutrition in the mixed feed does not meet the standard.
⑦ If the beak is not cut in time or there is no beak cut, the experiment proves that the feed consumption of the chickens with the beak cut off in time and the chickens without beak cut is about 3%.
⑧ Improper feed shape. At present, the commonly used feeds include powder and pellets. Practice has proved that the utilization of pellets (under 4.5 mm for broilers and over 4.5 mm for adult chickens) is the highest utilization rate, and the waste of powder is the largest.
⑨ Parasites and chronic wasting diseases are one of the reasons for high feed input, low production (weight gain, egg production) output, and waste of feed.
3. Ways to save chicken feed
①The chicks are opened with a special feeding pan at the beginning, the size is determined according to the density, and the edge is 1.5 cm 2 cm high. The chicks can freely enter and leave the pan. The feeding is frequently added and fed less to reduce waste. The feeding is completed at the end of the feeding. At the time, the remaining feed can be fed to the pigs.
② The hopper for flat rearing is best to be hung with silk, and its height is parallel to that of the chicken. The large chicken can be 12 cm higher than the back of the chicken, so that the feed in the hopper is not easy to pick up.
③ The amount of feed for caged chickens should not be too much, generally put it into the trough 1/3, and evenly once every 1-2 hours, the method of homogenization: use a spatula to redistribute the remaining feed in the trough, so Save feed and stimulate the appetite of chickens.
④ Check the level and condition of the water tank frequently, and do not leak water into the feed tank and cause waste.
⑤ Restricted breeding of young chickens, and grasp the uniformity and weight gain standards.
⑥ Rodents and finches in the feed storehouse are regularly eliminated, which can not only reduce feed waste, but also help prevent disease epidemics.
⑦ Eliminate redundant roosters and low-yielding, sick, and disabled hens in time.
⑧ Scientific and reasonable compound feed, strengthen feeding management, and improve feed utilization rate.
⑨ Feed grit regularly to improve the digestibility of chickens.
⑩ When purchasing feed for large chicken farms, quality inspection and nutritional element analysis can be carried out if possible to prevent economic losses caused by fake and inferior feed.
